Turkmen more flexible towards elections in Kirkuk, says Salihi

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Turkmen Front Arshad al-Salihi assured that his Front is “more flexible than before towards endorsing the provincial elections in Kirkuk province.”

MP Salihi stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) Friday “We are more flexible now towards endorsing the law related to provincial Council’s elections in Kirkuk province because we try to avoid being embarrassed by forcing a certain date for conducting these elections.”

“The political entities in Kirkuk province have submitted several proposals over conducting the provincial elections in Kirkuk, and we as the representative of the Turkmen community in Kirkuk presented our proposal but only one meeting has been achieved with the chairmanship of the Parliament which was supposed to be followed by a meeting for the legal committee to discuss the nominees of the three constituents but regrettably this meeting was held,” he added.

Salihi stressed “During these days will witness the phase of voting on the provincial councils elections and there is a special law to manage the provinces to be voted on, too,” emphasizing that “If the case over electing Kirkuk Provincial Council was not settled, I believe the situation will be more complicated.”
