Ubaidi criticizes attempt to increase IHEC members

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Yasin al-Ubaidi, of the Iraqiya Slate confirmed that “Increasing the members of the Independent High Electoral Commission to 15 members is useless and aims at satisfying some political blocs.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “All blocs call for professionalism and to avoid the confessionalism but the attempt to increase the IHEC members will indicate that no side is independent in Iraq.”

“Some Ministries were reduced under the pretext of decreasing the additional expense while increasing IHEC members will require increasing the budget of the State,” he concluded.

Earlier, the Iraqiya Slate announced that “It will not vote on increasing the members of the IHEC to 15.”
