UPPFI announces in formation in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Union of the Patriotic Political Figures in Iraq, headed by the Head of the Iraqi National Congress, Ahmed al-Chalabi, announced it formation, in Baghdad on Saturday.

The Establishing statement of the Union cited “After holding a meeting among Iraqi figures from various political, scientific and social backgrounds, we announce forming UPPFI which will work on reforming the political process and to protect democracy and freedom.”

“The UPPFI will be close to all the political sides to perform its national duty by settling the disputes among them and will do its best to improve the Iraqi foreign relations with the neighboring countries,” the statement added.

“The door is opened to all Iraqis to join the UPPFI to participate in building Iraq and to protect its unity,” the statement concluded.

Earlier, the spokesman of the INC, Mohamed al-Musawi, stated to IraqiNews.com “A new Alliance will be announced during a ceremony at Sheraton Hotel in Baghdad on Saturday afternoon.”

The political observers expected forming new alliances in preparation for joining the Provincial elections at the end of 2012.
