Urgent – IFM condemns Oglu’s visit to Kirkuk

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Foreign Affairs Ministry considered the visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister to Kirkuk as “a violation and interference in the Iraqi affairs that do not suit the behavior of a Foreign Minister.”

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Iraqi FM said “The Turkish FM Ahmet Davuto?lu visited the Iraqi province of Kirkuk on Thursday and this visit represents a violation for the morals and diplomatic code of conduct which does not suit the behavior of a foreign minister of an important neighbor country like Turkey.”

“This step represents an intervention in the Iraqi internal affairs which Turkey has to take the responsibility of this behavior and its serious sequences in front of the Iraqi People and People of Kirkuk in particular,” the statement added.

“Turkey has violated the national sovereignty of Iraq and the rules of the international relations,” according to the statement.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry expressed its “condemnation for the stance of the Kurdistan Regional Government which facilitated this visit without acknowledging the Iraqi Federal Government which is a violation for its constitutional responsibilities,” stressing that “Oglu’s visit was conducted with knowledge of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry or resorting to the regular diplomatic channels to arrange for this visit.”
