Urgent – Parliament lifts session for 2 hours over disputes

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Parliament lifted its session of Thursday for two hours due to withdrawal of some blocs’ MPs from the session.

Parliamentary source reported to IraqiNews.com Thursday “The Parliament lifted its session till 14:00 Hour according to Baghdad Local Time due to withdrawal of MPs from the State of Law Coalition, Fadhila Bloc and Taghyeer (Change) bloc from the session to protest discussing the Independent High Electoral Commission’s law amendment,” noting that “The Blocs have the desire to keep the IHEC’s Commissioners as nine rather than 15.”

“The MPs of the Citizen Bloc, Ahrar Bloc, Iraqiya Slate and the Kurdistani Alliance insist to have nine members within the IHEC’s Commissioners’ Board,” the source concluded.
