VP meets Palestinian President in Amman

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the Jordanian capital Amman to complete talks on the files Abbas discussed with officials in Baghdad and Arbil, according to a statement of al-Hashemi’s media office. “The meeting focused on the Palestinian cause and the local Palestinian situation as well as bilateral relations,” said the statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. On Monday (April 13), Abbas arrived in the capital city of Iraq’s Kurdistan and met with the region’s president and prime minister. On Sunday (April 5), Abbas arrived in Iraq on a one-day official visit- the first by a Palestinian official since 2003, and met with President Jalal al-Talabani, his deputies, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and several other officials.
