White bloc: Political mafias spread in prisons

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Spokesperson of the White bloc, Kadhim al-Shimari, assured that there are “mafias in the prisons that are supported by some political sides.”

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com on Wednesday, he stated “Those mafias controlled the prison guards and the managers of the prisons either by money or by threat.”

“Many of those who were asked to run the prisons have requested to leave this job due to their fears from those mafias,” he added, noting that “It is a dangerous situation that increases every day and needs to have immediate actions to be eliminated.”

It is worth mentioning that the escape attempts from prisons increased in Iraq where many of the escaped persons belong to the armed groups such as al-Qaeda Terrorist Organization.
