“Will not negotiate on Iraqi unity”, Premier Maliki

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Premier Nouri al-Maliki said today that he “will not negotiate on Iraqi unity”, stressing “the necessity to resort to  constitution to solve differences” and “abide by the national standards which are the competence of the central government”.   The central competence, according to Premier Maliki, is connected with sovereignty, security, foreign relations and national wealth.   In a statement by his office, Maliki met a delegation from Nineveh Provisional Council.   Maliki called on Iraqi people to hold national unity after the great achievement of US forces withdrawal, as mentioned in the statement.   The statement concluded that Maliki stressed resorting to the constitution in solving all differences.   Premier Maliki detailed the latest developments and governmental attempts to develop Iraqi economy, infrastructure and services.   Nineveh delegation expressed their support to governmental efforts to preserve national unity, implementation of the constitution and law, achieving Iraqi people ambitions, confirming their rejection to the division of the country and evaluating the final US forces withdrawal.
