Zamili confirms reports over buying weapons from central, southern parts of Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Member of the Security and Defense Parliamentary Committee, Hakim al-Zamili, confirmed the reports over “attempts of some neighboring countries to empty the southern and central provinces of Iraq from weapons in order to start a sectarian war in Iraq.”

MP Zamili stated to Iraqi News Saturday “The case of buying weapons from the southern and central provinces of Iraq in particular became a fact since some neighboring countries pay a lot of money to empty the provinces of central and southern Iraq as well as the Capital Baghdad from medium and heavy weapons,” stressing that “The religious authorities tabooed selling weapons because they discovered the schemes of these countries which attempt to arm certain areas and disarm others to start a sectarian war and divide Iraq.”

“We don’t call to have all the members of the Iraqi people armed but it is necessary for each family to keep a piece of weapons to defend its security since the country is still suffering from security disturbance,” he added.
