Zibari announces departure of Syrian ambassador from Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Foreign Ministry announced that the Syrian ambassador to has departed Iraq heading to Qatar.

The Iraqiya Satellite Channel quoted the Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zibari, as saying “The Syrian ambassador, Nawaf al-Faris, who seceded from the Syrian government has left Iraq and headed to Qatar.”

Earlier, al-Faris announced his secession from the regime of the Syrian President Bashar al-Asad, according to media reports.

Al-Faris is among the most distinguished officials in the Syrian Regime who announces his secession.

Al-Faris, a former official in the Syrian ruling Ba’ath Party, has been appointed the Syrian Ambassador to Iraq in September 17, 2008.
