Zubaidi: Parliament endorses or rejects, not drafts budget law

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Former Minister of Finance, Baqir Jabur al-Zubaidi, clarified that “The parliament has the task of endorsing or rejecting the financial budget rather than drafting it.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “Preparing the budget is among the tasks of the government, Finance Ministry and the Council of Ministers.”

“The Council of Ministers has to present the budget law to the parliament to study and ratify it,” he added.

Concerning the budget of the Supreme Judicial Council and of the Parliament, he assured that “The SJC and the Parliament present their independent budgets every year.”

“In the former Ministry of Finance, we did not interfere in drafting the budget of the SJC and Parliament,” he concluded.
