1st power pylon arrives in Basra’s Umm Qasr port

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: The first power-generating pylon arrived in the port of Umm Qasr in the southern Iraq province of Basra on Saturday, an information official at the Iraq Ports Company revealed. “The pylon, which had sailed off from the Turkish ports last month, would be placed in the port of Umm Qasr while the second pylon, to arrive soon, will stand in Khour al-Zubair port,” Inmar al-Safi told IraqiNews.com news agency. The provincial council’s electricity committee chairman had said on April 16 that the first pylon has a capacity of 143 megawatt, adding it is one of two the electricity ministry signed a contract to purchase from a Turkish firm.
