1st train loaded with containers arrives Baghdad from Umm Qasr Port

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The First train loaded with containers and goods arrived in Baghdad from Umm Qasr port as a first step in the field of transporting commodities via railway within the project of the Dry Canal linking Iraq with Turkey and European countries. A statement by the Ministry of Transportation cited “Shaljiya Customs Station witnessed arrival of the first train for goods from Umm Qasr port in Basra province,” noting that “It is considered one of the most important signs of progress in field of transportation by railway.” “This project will contribute in reviving the Iraqi economy in addition to maximizing the financial revenues of the Iraqi Railway and running all the technical personnel, devices and equipments in this giant project,” the statement stressed.
