Basra governor meets British amb. on economic ties

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Basra Governor Shaltagh Abboud al-Mayyah said he held a session of talks with British ambassador to Iraq John Jenkins on Thursday and discussed together means to further economic relations between the two countries. “The talks with the British ambassador dealt with ways to boost economic relations between Basra and the United Kingdom in light of British reconstruction efforts in the city,” Mayyah told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The province will be witnessing intensive economic activities thanks to its economic potentials and stable security conditions,” he added. The oil-rich port city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
