Basra’s share of oil revenues will boost its economy

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: The allocation of a share of oil, gas and border revenues to Basra will help create a quality leap its economy, an official from the provincial council in Basra said on Thursday. “For months now, the Basra council has been collecting fees at border outlets to improve the services in the province,” the head of the economic development committee in the council, Mahmoud Taan al-Maksousi, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The budget is currently giving Basra more opportunities by allocating a specific percentage of locally-produced oil and gas sales for the province,” Maksousi noted.
