Canadian envoy in Basra over investment

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: The Canadian ambassador to Iraq on Monday arrived in Basra to discuss investment opportunities in the southern province, according to a local official. “A meeting, which has taken place with the ambassador at the provincial council’s building, tackled several issues, most prominently the opportunities available to Canadian companies and investors in Basra,” the chairman of Basra’s provincial council, Jabbar Amin, told IraqiNews.com news agency. The Canadian official has revealed his country’s willingness to invest in the fields of oil, gas and aviation, Amin added. The Shiite city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
