Concrete bridge project to be implemented in Wassit

Wassit-Bridge WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: The al-Karedhiya concrete bridge project in Kut city will be implemented at a total cost of 26 billion Iraqi dinars ($21.400 million) within projects to develop provinces in 2008, the Wassit‘s media director said on Thursday. “The contracts department in Wassit referred the bridge, which links the Tigris river’s two banks, in eastern Kut for implementation,” Majid al-Atabi told IraqiNews.com. “The bridge will contribute in easing jam in Kut,” he added. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad, is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra. Its major cities include the capital, al-Kut, and al-Hayy. Prior to 1976 it was known as Kut Province. SH (P)/SR 1
