Dayni: Governmental procedures to upgrade Agriculture in Iraq, not enough

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Member of the Parliamentary Economy and Investment Committee, MP Nahida al-Dayni criticized the governmental procedures in supporting the agricultural sector.

Dayni told IraqiNews.com “The problem of the agriculture sector in Iraq cannot be solved through granting loans to the farmers only but by the continued support of the Government to this sector through adopting a clear strategy in supporting the farmers.”

She stressed that “The loans are not enough to meet all the farmers’ needs in regard to the agrarian requirements to upgrade the agrarian posture.”

She referred that “The most prominent problem faced by the agricultural sector is the desertification phenomenon and lack of water due to the water war practiced against Iraq by Turkey and Iran as well as the ongoing electricity shut down and the weak support by the Government to this sector.”
