Dollar demand drops further

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Demand for the dollar went down further at the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) auction on Thursday, registering at $142.555 million compared to $187.447 million in the previous session. “The demand hit $55.725 million in cash and $86.83 million in foreign transfers outside the country, all covered by the bank at a stable exchange rate of 1,179 Iraqi dinars per dollar, unchanged for the 10 th session in a row” an official source from the bank told IraqiNews.com. None of the 16 banks that participated in the session offered to sell dollars. The Central Bank of Iraq runs a daily auction from Sunday to Thursday. SS (P) 1
