Financial committee urges cabinet to send general retirement law

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A lawmaker from the parliamentary financial committee has called on the Iraqi cabinet to send a copy of the General Retirement Law to the council for debate and vote. “The Ministry of Finance has announced an amendment to the law, raising retirees’ salaries by 70,000 Iraqi dinars (ID) as of last July,” MP Sami al-Atroushi said during a press conference held today at the Baghdad-based Palace of Conferences, which was attended by Iraqi News. “The law affects a large segment of Iraqi society,” the lawmaker added.
