Gov’t sets crop quotes

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi cabinet has set quotations for wheat, barley and rice crops that the government buys from farmers, citing quality as the single factor in determining the price, a government spokesperson said. “On Tuesday, the cabinet approved the Ministry of Trade’s quotations for wheat, barley and rice crops,” Spokesperson Ali al-Dabbagh said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com. Accordingly, the government will pay 850,000 Iraqi dinars (1 U.S. dollar= 1,118 Iraqi dinars) for one ton of first-grade wheat and 800,000 dinars for second-grade wheat, the statement noted. A quotation of 725,000 Iraqi dinars has been set for one ton of barley, in addition to three quotations of 900,000, 830,000 and 795,000 dinars for three different types of rice crops, it added.
