Investments in Kurdistan Region reach advanced levels

Erbil (IraqiNews.com) The Investment Commission of Kurdistan Region announced that “The size of the investment in the region reached more than USD (3) billion.”

The Investment Commission reported in a statement to IraqiNews.com on Tuesday that “The share of the local investments since the beginning of 2012 has reached (76%) out of the total investments in the region which equals to USD (2,159) million,” noting that “The size of the foreign investments have reached USD (1,018,724,759) for the same duration.”

The statement added that “The Egyptian companies have the major share of the investments in the region since the beginning of 2012.”

The statement continued saying that “The foreign investments included participation from UAE, Turkish, Lebanese, Egyptian, German and American companies,” noting that “The investment covered fields of industry, trade, housing, health and banking.”

The statement pointed out that “Erbil province topped the level of the foreign and local investments followed by Sulaimaniya province then Dohuk province.”

The statement concluded by mentioning that “Investment licenses have been granted for (76) companies to invest in Kurdistan Region since the beginning of 2012 for foreign, local and joint companies.”
