Iraq exports oil in accordance with laws

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The inspector general in the Iraqi Ministry of Oil on Wednesday said that the exportation of oil is being done in accordance with laws and regulations, denying oil smuggling to neighboring countries. “All oil wells are controlled by meters. A specialist company working for the ministry is responsible for recording export figures,” read a statement released by the National Media Center and received by IraqiNews.com, quoting an official source from the inspector general’s office. Earlier today, an official spokesperson for the ministry said that Iraqi oil exports have reached 1.88 million barrels per day (bpd), 11 percent higher than the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) expectations for the current year.
