Iraq-Japan talks to develop bilateral relations

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee has conferred in Baghdad on Monday with the Japanese Charge d’affaires, to develop bilateral relations between the two countries. “The Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee had received the Japanese Charge d’affaires, Katsuhiko Takahashi, with whom it discussed the bilateral relations between both countries and means to develop them and to support the Japanese Loan for Iraq,” a Committee statement said. The statement, a copy of which was received by IraqiNews.com news agency, had “reaffirmed necessity to use the Japanese loan for Iraq in the field of investment and supporting the private sector.” The Japanese government had presented an easy-loan for Iraq, reaching 3.5 billion U.S. dollars, that the government used to rehabilitate the phosphate plant in southern Iraq’s Khor al-Zubair Terminal, oil-exporting facilities, development of engineering services in Basra oil refinery, as well as electric power projects, ports, irrigation, a power plant in Musayab township, a bridge in Samawa city and the building of several roads.   SKH (TI)/SR 405
