Iraq to add US$927 millions to Electricity’s 2011 budget

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq ’s Council of Ministers has demanded the Energy Affairs Committee to add US$927 millions to the Electricity Ministry’s 2011 budget, the Government’s Official Spokesman said on Sunday.   “The Council of Ministers has decided in its 30 th session to issue a recommendation for the Energy Affairs Committee to add US$927 millions to the additional budget of the Electricity Ministry for the year 2011, in order to implement the projects, assigned by the Committee,” Ali Al-Dabbagh said in a statement, copy of which was received by IraqiNews.com news agency on Monday.   He said the Council had also decided to authorize the Ministry of Education to negotiate and conclude a contract with Russian, Korean or other international companies, to build 5,000 schools, on basis of postponed payment, according to the designs prepared by the Ministry, provided that the payment for those contracts be without interests, and to begin after 5 years.   SKH (IT)
