Iraq’s Kurdistan legislatures demand questioning of its Premier for fuel prices increase

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: About 38 Members of North Iraq Kurdistan Region’s Parliament have demanded the questioning of the Region’s Prime Minister, Barham Saleh and its Minister of Natural Resources, Ashti Hawramani, to define the reasons for the high rise of oil fuels in the Region recently, according to the Chairman of the Islamic Group in the Parliament, Aram Qader on Wednesday.   “38 Parliament members, belonging to different political blocs, have signed a demand raised to the Kurdistan Parliament’s Speaker, demanding the questioning of Kurdistan’s Premier and its Natural Resources Minister, regarding the increase of petrol prices over the past period,” Qader told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Qader said that the demand took place in the background of the decision taken by the Natural Resources Committee in Kurdistan Parliament, to follow up the rise of fuels with the Minister of Natural Resources, Governors and the Council of Ministers, for which no clear answers were given to the questions of the Committee, about the source behind such rise in fuel prices.”   The price of petrol and other fuels in Iraq ’s Kurdistan Region had witnessed a sharp rise since the beginning of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, now in its 10 th day, from 900-950 dinars to 1,275 dinars per liter.   SKH (IT) 457
