Iraq’s National Investment Commission confers with 200 Turkish companies representatives

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s National Investment Commission has conferred in Baghdad on Monday with representatives of 200 Turkish companies and a number of Iraqi businessmen and undersecretaries of the Trade and Housing Ministries.   “The delegation of Turkish businessmen and representatives of Turkish companies, visiting Iraq together with Turkey’s Prime Minister, for whom we decided to offer them investment chances, within the investment map and the sectors they wish to invest in, in cooperation with Iraqi investors,” the Commission’s Chairman, Sami al-Aaraji told a news conference.   Aaraji said he also discussed with the said delegation, the sectors they can invest in, including oil and industrial sectors, comprising chemical, construction, foodstuff, electricity, mineral, agriculture, housing and other sectors.   The chief of the Turkish delegation, on his part, has expressed conviction that “the close geographic presence between Iraq and Turkey, and the size of trade cooperation, encourages businessmen to look for further chances, taking into consideration that the business sector in Iraq is a promising sector, appreciated by Turkish businessmen.”   On his part, the Chairman of Iraq’s Federal Business Council, Ibrahim al-Baghdadi, told IraqiNews.com that “new instructions have been issued to exempt investors from taxes on lands allocated for them, thus opening opportunities for investors to look for real chances in Iraq, being an inviting investment environment for Turkish businessmen to head towards the Iraqi market.”   SKH (TR)/SR 571
