Iraq’s PM chairs meeting to discuss granting credits for farmers

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com – Iraq’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, chaired a meeting in Baghdad on Monday evening for the Higher Committee for the Agricultural Initiative, that discussed the irrigation projects and the mechanism for granting credits to farmers as part of the Initiative, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s office on Tuesday.   “The meeting discussed a series of measures to support the agricultural sector and the farmers, including the supply of agricultural and irrigation machines and equipment, as well as facilitating the granting of credits for farmers, the development of irrigation networks and facilitating necessary means for the implementation of new irrigation projects,” the statement pointed out.   The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Agriculture, Izziddin al-Dawla and Water Resources, Muhannad al-Saadi, the Chairman of the Advisors Commission and the Executive Director of the said Initiative.    SKH (TI)/SR 491
