Issawi, U.S. official discuss ways to bolster investment in Iraq

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Rafie al-Issawi received at his office in Baghdad on Sunday Ambassador Marc Wall, the U.S. Economic Transition Coordinator for Iraq, and his accompanying delegation and discussed better chances for investment in Iraq. “The meeting dwelt on the opportunities available for U.S. investment companies to carry out strategic projects in Iraq in line with the strategic framework agreement signed between the two sides,” according to a statement by Issawi’s office as received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The meeting also dealt with the possibility of U.S. technicians and engineers’ participation in the expanded conference for central Iraq governorates, to be held soon under the auspices of the deputy premier,” it added. Wall, for his part, said he welcomed “the progress achieved in the security and rebuilding fields,” describing as “serious and confident” the Iraqi government’s steps to obtain better services for Iraqi citizens.
