ISX trades over 1.3b shares on Sun.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Stock Exchange (ISX) on Sunday traded over more than 1.3 billion shares worth over 2.4 billion Iraqi dinars (nearly $2 million U.S. dollars) through 286 transactions. The shares of 28 out of a total 61 electronically-registered companies were traded during Sunday’s session, with shares of 11 going up, 15 down while two retaining their previous rates. The banking sector topped today’s trading activities with 90% of the shares and 78% of the trading volume, followed by the industrial sector with transactions over 10 companies. The ISX witnessed the first e-trading session on April 19 over five registered companies, three banks and two hotels. The banks were the Ashur International Bank (AIB), Al-Mansour Bank and the Iraqi Credit Bank while the hotels were the Ashtar Hotel and Al-Mansour Hotel. On June 7, the Iraqi Middle East Investment Bank and the Warka Bank joined the electronic trading sessions. The ISX now holds three electronic sessions on a weekly basis: Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. SS (P) 1
