Kurdistan RegionG denies selling crude oil outside Iraq

Erbil (IraqiNews.com) The Kurdistan Regional Government denied reports over selling crude oil outside Iraq, assuring that “The crude oil is refined at some local refineries in the Region to compensate the shortage caused by the cut off decided by the Federal Government from its share since April 25.”

A statement by the Ministry of Natural resources within the Kurdistan RegionG stated Monday “The Federal Oil Ministry did not commit to providing 32,116 barrels of oil from the share of the Region.”

“It is necessary for the Federal Government to provide the provinces of Kurdistan Region with the share of 140,000 barrels per day as a constitutional right from the total amount of 600,000-700,000 barrels refined by the Federal Oil Ministry,” the statement mentioned.

The statement described accusation of the Iraqi Oil Ministry for Kurdistan RegionG of smuggling oil products outside Iraq as “Bad justification for cutting off Kurdistan Region’s share of oil products, because these accusations are groundless.”

The Federal Oil Ministry did not show commitment towards its decision to provide Kurdistan RegionG with more than $ 600 million to provide necessary fuel for the electric stations in the Region, according to the statement which stressed that “The Ministry also sells the oil products to Kurdistan RegionG with higher prices from that sold to other Iraqi provinces although the Iraqi Oil Minister has confirmed to unify prices officially on January 18th, but this decision like others, was not fulfilled.”
