Kurdistan businessmen conf. discusses investment in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Basra on Saturday hosted a conference of 50 Iraqi Kurdistan businessmen to discuss investment opportunities in the province, namely in the power sector, according to a local media source. “The one-day conference reviewed the city’s investment map and means by the Kurdistan investment firms to carry out joint ventures in the province,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. He added that the gathering’s discussions revolved around investment in the electricity sector, a field the local administration in Basra is trying to invigorate. The oil-rich port city of Basra, Iraq’s only outlet to waterways, lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
