MoHC lowest in corruption rates among service Ministries, says MP

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Parliamentary Construction and Services Committee considered the Ministry of Housing and Construction as the lowest Ministry in terms of the financial and administrative corruption among the services Ministries, attributing the spread of corruption to the adoption of secondary contractors in implementing projects.

The Head of the Committee, Vian Dakhil, said in a statement to IraqiNews.com “The MoHC is the lowest in the corruption rates among the services ministries where it managed to reduce the corruption,” noting that “The Ministries which rely on contractors significantly suffer a high level of corruption.”

MP Dakhil of the Kurdistani Alliance continued saying “The corruption hindered the implementation of some service projects through referring them to several contractors,” emphasizing that “This series of contractors is considered as an aspect of corruption as it hurdles the completion of the projects according to the execution durations.”

She pointed out that “Our Committee always calls upon the service Ministries to eliminate the process of referring the projects to the subsidiary contractors.”
