Ninewa delegation meets Istanbul municipality head

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Ninewa’s governor said that his meeting with the head of Istanbul’s municipal council has focused on means to encourage investments in Mosul city. “The doors are open to Turkish companies to visit Mosul city and to become acquainted with the situation there,” Darid Kashmoula said following his meeting with the Turkish official in Istanbul yesterday. On Sunday, a delegation comprising Ninewa’s governor, his deputy and a number of provincial council members left for Turkey in response to an official invitation from Istanbul’s mayoralty. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. The original city of Mosul stands on the west bank of the Tigris River, opposite the ancient biblical city of Nineveh on the east bank, but the metropolitan area has now grown to encompass substantial areas on both banks, with five bridges linking the two sides.
