"Non-control on borders behind delaying customs tariff implementation," says MP

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Member of the Parliamentary Economy and Investment Committee, Nahida al-Daini, attributed postponing the implementation of the customs tariff law to the “lack of the government’s control over the border crossings.” MP Daini said “One of the problems of the Iraqi economy is the lack of the control of the federal government on the borders of Iraq especially in Kurdistan Region and this caused delaying implementation of the tariff.” “Another problem facing the local economy is the lack of seriousness by the government to adopt an economic policy for Iraq in addition to the control of internal and external business mafias on the Iraqi markets,” she added. The Iraqi Government has announced on June 26th its approval on postponing the implementation of the customs tariff law which was ratified two years ago.
