Shahristani denies issuing order to stop providing Kurdistan Region with fuel

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs Hussein al-Shihristni denied issuing an order to stop providing Kurdistan Region with fuel. A statement by Shahristani Information Office cited “Some sides announced in the past few days that the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs has issued an order to halt providing Kurdistan Region with fuel,” noting “We assure that Shahristani did not issue such order.” “What shahristani said in this regard is that the oil products produced in all refineries should be distributed over all provinces each according to its population rate, therefore we call on the parties concerned in this topic to verify the news accuracy before assuming its correctness.” Some media outlets have quoted some officials in Kurdistan Region as saying that “DPM issued an order to stop supplying Kurdistan Region with fuel,” where some MPs of Kurdistani Alliance described this resolution as “unjust.” It is worth to be mentioned that “Shahristani has accused in last April the authorities of Kurdistan Region of smuggling crude oil to the neighboring countries,” demanding “the federal government to stop Kurdistan Region’s oil exports.”
