Upsurge in dollar demand in daily auction

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Demand for the dollars skyrocketed at the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) auction on Tuesday, registering $238.30 million compared to $77.230 million in the previous session. “The demand hit $35.315 million in cash and $203.30 million in foreign transfers outside the country, all covered by the bank at a stable exchange rate of 1,179 Iraqi dinars per dollar,” an official source from the bank told IraqiNews.com. None of the banks that attended in the session offered to sell dollars. The Central Bank of Iraq runs a daily auction from Sunday to Thursday. AmR (P) 1
