Water project initiated in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: A local company on Monday initiated work on a water station compound in Basra’s Shatt al-Arab district. “The cost of the project exceeds 935 million Iraqi dinars (1 U.S. dollar = 1,118 Iraqi dinars),” the head of Basra’s construction unit, Engineer Ziyad Ali, told IraqiNews.com. “The estimated completion period is six months,” Ali added. Basra, 590 km (340 miles) south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, has an estimated metropolitan population of 2,300,000 in 2008. SS (P)/SR 1
