Means of cooperation between Human Rights Ministry – NGOs discussed

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Ministry of Human Rights held a meeting with 30 non-governmental organization to discuss mechanisms to disseminate a culture of human rights.    In a statement issued by the Human Rights Ministry, a copy of which was received by IraqiNews.com, the Ministry’s spokesman Kamil Ameen called for NGOs registration or registration to “not use them for terrorist means, because the ministry will not deal with the unregistered NGOs.  He called to “check the figures reported by international human rights organizations, because most of them are not accurate, through contacting census departments at the ministry of planning.”  On their side, the NGOs representatives submitted a number of proposals to facilitate work with the ministry, pointing out that lack of financing and culture in human rights fields, as well as the non-cooperation of governmental establishments are the main reasons for the obstacles facing their work.    RM (TS)/SR 886
