New Chairman elected for Basra Council

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: A new Chairman for southern Iraq Basra Province ’s Council, called Sabah al-Bazzouni, has been elected to succeed its former Chairman, Jabbar Amin, IraqiNews.com news agency Correspondent in Basra reported on Tuesday.   “ Basra Province ’s Council has held a meeting on Tuesday morning to name a new Chairman for the Council, after the resignation of Jabbar Amin from his post,” he said, adding that “ Sabah al-Bazzouni had won the Council’s Chairmanship, after he got 26 votes out of the Council’s 27 votes.”   Bazzouni is one of the leaders of Al-Daawa Party – Iraq Organization and belongs to the list of the State of Law Coalition , led by Iraq ’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, out of whom the Basra Council’s former Chairman, Jabbar Amin, had resigned, thing that made the List demand the post, that was won by Bazzouni.   SKH (ST)
