UNICEF: 194 children killed, 232 wounded in 2010

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: UNICEF expressed its concern today for random acts of violence committed against Iraqi children, reminding that its reports said more than 200 Iraqi children were killed and 230 were hit in violent actions in 2010.  In a report, as received by IraqiNews.com, on the Iraqi Child Day, UNICEF said that 376 children were killed and 1594 wounded in violent actions in 2008, killing 362 and wounding 1044 in 2009, while 2010 reports said 194 children were killed and wounding 232.  Iraqi governmental reports said that the first nine months of 2010 witnessed the killing 134 children and wounding 590 in violent armed actions.   UNICEF is working in Iraq since 1983 to support Iraqi government in laying down suitable policies for the children and building qualified institutions to preserve the rights of the children in the country.  RM (TS)/SR 806
