Babel hosts chess championship

Babel (IraqiNews.com) Chess championship events were launched in Babel city on Thursday with the participation of 20 teams from all over Iraq, including Kurdistan Region, and some foreign players from Eastern Europe.

The Director of Youth and Sport Directorate in Babel province, Raqeeb al-Janabi, reported in statement received by IraqiNews.com ”The winners in Chess three day-championship will be chosen to form the Iraqi national chess team that will represent Iraq in the Arab Chess Championship that will be held in Jordan next September.”

”Janabi praised the cooperation between Babel Local Government and Youth and Sport Directorate in offering all facilities to hold this championship,” the statement concluded.
