Christmas Tree situated in central Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Cultural Committee within Baghdad Provincial Council assured that “Baghdad PC approved installing a five meter height Christmas Tree in Karrada area of central Baghdad to show solidarity with the Christian community.”

Salah Abdul Razaq said in a press statement received by IraqiNews.com Thursday “The Council approved the project presented by the Cultural Committee to install a Christmas tree in Karrada area in response to a suggestion presented by our Christian Brothers.”

“The decision comes to show solidarity with the Christian Community and participate in their feasts and happy occasions,” the statement added, noting that “Karrada has been chosen since it comprises Muslims and Christians who live peacefully and contains several mosques and churches.”
