Iraqis to be issued electronic passports in 2015

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Passports Directorate of Erbil province announced that the Federal Government decided to issue an electronic passports for Iraqi people throughout Iraq and Kurdistan Region.

The Kurdistan Regional Government quoted the Director of Erbil Passports Directorate, Colonel Dedar Omar, as saying that ”The first cover of the new passports will contain a chip of detailed and accurate information about the owner of the passport so that it will be impossible to be forged.’

”’The citizens whose passports almost filled or lost will received the new passports first and the project is scheduled to be implemented in 2015,” he concluded.
