Dhi-Qar, Nassiriya (IraqiNews.com) The Federal Appeal Court approved the death sentence against the convicted criminals who are accused of targeting the Shiite Pilgrims in Bat’ha district of Dhi-Qar province which resulted in killing and wounding (120) civilians.

The Head of Appeal Court of Dhi-Qar province Farqed Saleh stated to IraqiNews.com that “The Federal Appeal Court in Baghdad approved the death sentence which is issued from the Criminal Court of Dhi-Qar province against the convicted criminals responsible for the explosion that took place in Bat’ha district during the rituals of Arbaeen Pilgrimage ceremony of Imam Hussein.”

The statement added that “The Court also issued verdict of acquittal for the third defendant (Yasir Mutiny) with keeping him under custody for being involved in criminal and terrorist operations in Baghdad.”

Earlier, a suicide bomber, wearing an explosive belt, attacked a Shiite gathering that provides services to the Shiite Pilgrims in Bat’ha district, in Dhi-Qar on the 5th of January/ 2012, resulted in killing and wounding (125) persons. \
