Iraqi artists to counter IS extremism with 100-movie project

Baghdad ( Iraqi artists, with international contribution, are planning to launch a 100-movie scheme focused on countering the Islamic State extremist group’s ideology, their syndicate declared on Tuesday.

The syndicate’s statement said it was launching a project to produce 100 short movies with international participation, with the theme “confronting Daesh (Islamic State) thought”.

It added that the project will include both feature and documentary movies.

It set a deadline for submitting story ideas on 30th January, demanding applicants to include a 50-word summary of their intended productions, noting that multiple works by each contributor are welcome.

It asked to send ideas to ( [email protected] ).

Iraq declared victory over Islamic State militants late 2017, ending four years of the extremist group’s occupation of a third of he country.
