(IraqiNews.com) BAGHDAD – On Thursday, the Iraqi Council of Representatives gave the government and the authorities responsible for paying dues to farmers a 10-day period to pay the dues.

The member of the economic and investment commission in Parliament, Najiba Najib said, “The House of Representatives has given ten-day deadline to the government and those responsible for the paying dues to the peasants.”

She added, “In case of non-payment of dues to the farmers during this specific period, we will question al-Abadi, Minister of Finance, Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Central Bank of Iraq to know the reasons for this delay.”

The Iraqi government is obliged to pay 2.2 trillion dinars due to farmers, 946 billion dinars dues in 2014 and the remaining amount is for 2015.
