Irrigation projects implemented in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Minister of Water Resources, Muhaned al-Saadi, declared the implementation of Jazera irrigation project in Nineveh province.

The project will serve (270, 000 Acres) from the highly productive lands to be farmlands.

Saadi added, according to a statement received by IraqiNews.com, that ”The project, which is implemented by a global company under the supervision of the General Commission of Irrigation and Rehabilitation Projects, represents a part of three phase-project (northern, southern, eastern) which is fed by water from Mosul dam lake to irrigate agricultural lands located within the area of the projects.”

Several provinces suffer of scarcity of its water shares from Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.

The Iraqi Government attribute the lack of the water resource to the dams which were built by Syria and Turkey as well as the global warming phenomenon. \
