MoC declares details of Baghdad, Capital of Arab Culture project

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Culture Undersecretary Fawzi al-Atrushi announced the details of a number of activities related to the project of (Baghdad, the Capital of Arab Culture) for 2013, confirming continuing the works in this project on the cultural and investment levels. Atrushi said “The investment projects are ongoing,” stressing that “The Ministry’s meetings with the specialized committee are proceeding where Baghdad monument was approved to be erected in al-Firdus Square in addition to Gilgamesh monument and Baghdad Logo which were approved according to a competition held for this purpose.” Concerning the budget allocated to the films of the Cinema and Theater Department, Atrushi assured “All novels and short stories and dramas were included in one list.” In respect to the readiness and qualifications of Baghdad infrastructures to assume such an important event, Atrushi assured “We are conducting the necessary investment projects in this regard, and fortunately, holding the Arab Summit in Baghdad helped us in easing this task especially in the field of rehabilitating the five stars hotels and villas besides other preparations.”
