MoE conducts radiological surveys in Maysan

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Environment assured that “The technical teams within the Ministry conducted a radiological survey for the stores of the old metal devices and materials in the industrial compound in Maysan province.”

A statement by the Ministry quoted the Spokesperson, Amir Ali al-Hasoun, as saying “The technical teams specialized in the radiological surveys specified the contaminated pieces in one of the stores of the industrial complexes in Maysan and labeled them with special labels.”

Hasoun added “The divisions of the Ministry have taken a written commitment from the owner of the store which contains the old metal materials in 2008 abiding him not to manipulate the contaminated pieces or remove them from their places until taking the required measures by the Ministry of Sciences and technology/ Treating the Radioactive Wastes Department.”
